Vintage Millworks is an architectural woodworking company that was founded in 1987. The craftsmen at Vintage Millworks make beautifully hand-crafted woodwork for commercial properties and private residences. The three pillars of their business model are that woodwork should be beautiful, classic, and well made. They certainly live up to that model.
Vintage Millworks approached Astute Communications wanting a total reworking of their branding & identity. This included a new website, collateral material, logo, and branding. They recognized that they needed to rebrand their identity to match the timeless elegance displayed in their work.
We were excited to take on the rebranding for Vintage Millworks, a 30-year-old company. The first step in the process was to create a logo that resembled the care and craft that goes into their work.
Meeting with the owners gave us a firm grasp on the vision that drives the business. We created over fifty thumbnail sketches (basically a visual brainstorm) that we narrowed down to three solid directions. During this process, we simultaneously put together a palette of potential fonts and colors that would represent the brand alongside the logo.
From there, we created refined mockups of the three chosen sketches that were presented to Vintage Millworks for selection and revision. With their approval, we finalized and refined the logo into something that captures the essence of the beautiful body of work that they’ve been creating for over thirty years. The result: a logo that is simple, elegant, and timeless.
custom web design & development
Similar to the dated logo they had been using, the Vintage Millworks website had a lot of room for improvement. Fortunately, websites happen to be one of our specialties here at Astute Communications.
We designed the website around the new branding, using the font and color palette we put together to capture the appropriate visual tone. This seamless incorporation of design elements yielded a sophisticated and visually stunning website that is suitable for their line of work. From a technical standpoint, we built a fully responsive website that is up to modern web standard and easy to navigate by users and search engines alike.
After the rebranding and the website development, we designed a host of identity and collateral marketing materials.
Astute designed these materials with the same level scrutiny that we used in the process of their logo design. In addition to designing the materials, we were tasked with sourcing the means of production. These materials included: custom designed letterhead, envelopes, postcard mailers, pens, coffee mugs, yard signs, and of course, business cards.
We had the pleasure of photographing the Vintage Millworks staff and premises. They have a large facility where they house raw materials and craft them into stunning wood pieces, perfectly matching the appropriate era. We incorporated photos from this shoot into the website design and our social media management & community building efforts.
social media management
On top of all the design and development we’ve done for Vintage Millworks, we also manage their social media. We took over their Facebook account and have built their Instagram presence from scratch. In a short amount of time, we have established a solid base audience that continues to grow every day.
