I’m so pleased to announce that The Founding Moms ® has featured an interview with me on their “crib sheets” blog series. The Founding Moms site has been featured in the New York Times and was voted one of the top 10 Best Websites for Woman Entrepreneurs, 2013 by Forbes. I am proud to be a part of their community, and humbled by their choice to feature my story on their blog. Check out some excerpts below:
What business did you start up?
I started a web and graphic design business called Astute Design Studio. I am working with small-medium sized businesses to create a strategic and effective web presence. A huge priority in my business is open communication. I want to be sure that my clients understand what they’re spending their money on and how it is going to be a tool for their business. In speaking with potential clients I’ve learned that so many people are throwing money at a company hoping to get results without ever getting a good, clear explanation of how it’s going to work.
How did your family react to you starting your own business?
My husband has been so unbelievably supportive. He knew it was my dream to work for myself, and that I wanted to stay home with our son. He never questioned me, and if he doubted me, he kept it to himself.
What skill would you most like to improve?
I’m really focusing a lot of time on Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It’s such an important part of digital marketing and I want to be sure that I’m delivering the best possible results for my clients. I’d also like to be a better cook!
Favorite part of a typical day?
Coding. I absolutely love building websites. I actually don’t mind cold-calling, and I enjoy graphic design, but building the websites… it’s like magic.
Least likely to…
..do the dishes!
I encourage anyone reading this to pay a visit to The Founding Mom’s website. Even if you’re not a mom…or a founder… or both, it’s an excellent venue to discover a lot of good people and a lot of good information.
